I don't have the exact solution for this issue, but these are the things I would start checking:
1) Do you have the same user created in Dev and QA environment?
2) The user has the same permissions? I would check su53 t-code.
3) Are both systems in the same version?
4) Are theere any dumps registered while executing this functionality in st22 t-code?
5) Are the RFC connection defined ok in Gateway for QA environment?
