Hi,

here are my answers:

  • You do not need to download and install SDK separately. The ASE installation media contains everything you require. (Exception: if your application requires something different like an older / different SDK version).
  • Regarding the patches: here I'm not familiar as well but when I had to install ASE on Windows I just googled for the patches and applied them.

As the error message is clear (Missing DLL MSVCR100.dll during Install) according to the installation manual, I didn't care much on the patch download.

  • OpenClient is the native Sybase client library. So you have to install it. It also makes sense to install ODBC. Others like ESQL, Perl, Python, and PHP are probably not required. But this depends on your application and your usage of the system.
  • Regarding ASE software download: here I go via "database patch". There I you find a list of different patch level. Your ASE download will be greater than (or around) 1 GB.

My way to the download: Databases | SAP Support Portal -->  "SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise" --> "Database Patch" --> "SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise" --> "Sybase ASE 15.7" --> "Sybase ASE Server 15.7" --> "Windows on x86 64 bit" --> then you'll see a list of several ASEs with different patch level

Best regards,

Juergen
