As Chris mentioned - I see no need to build custom reports. You can you use the BI content that comes delivered in standard as well as explore process browser application
Reports - Business Package for HR Administrator 1.51 - SAP Library
Process Browser - HR Administrative Services (PA-AS) - SAP Library
