As far as I am aware, SAP had put this restriction on BOM download from ERP to CRM, keeping in mind that 'plant' has no significance in CRM. CRM is designed mainly for Sales, Service & Marketing scenario. Also, BOM is represented as structured product in CRM. Since there is no plant concept in CRM, it assumes that structured product should be valid across the organization. Please correct me if I am wrong.
But I do understand that in ERP, plant has a major role to play and its a very common scenario to
maintain BOM under different plants.
But restriction of BOM download says that, only BOMs belonging to a single plant can be downloaded or GROUP BOMs. What I understand from Group BOM is that BOM with plant = ' '. Is this correct?
Is it not feasible/practical to maintain BOM for plant = ' ' as well in ERP, just as an workaround to download all BOMs from ERP to CRM with filter plant = ' ' ?.
Also, pain point here would be if its feasible, then maintaining the group BOM for already existing ones in ERP.!!!??
