Ahh.. you don't need to make an onilne request when the user clicks on the login button, instead you have to use the type as "Save". Then it will go to the start screen. As I mentioned in my previous comment the authentication check happens only when you do an online request after you go inside of the app. That means when you click on login button it only saves the credentials (user name and password you have to make it as credentials cache checked in advanced settings of the edit boxes). But the authentication happens only when the use do some online request to SAP. ex. get POs. This is how HWC app works.
