Yes, that worked! Connection established OK - I probably missed the note in the install guide that noted Windows cross-checks the FQDN during session startup. Was able to complete my original goal as well of publishing a new connection to the repository.
To get the test-connection to succeed, I had to work thru the ODBC 32-bit driver kerfuffle on my local machine, but that's been verified previously. Only User-DSN entries appear to be seen in the Generic ODBC select pulldown...
