Seems like SAP GUI 7.40 has been getting a lot of feedback (over 100 comments and counting) over on the SAP GUI space Announcing SAP GUI for Windows 7.40
Appears to be some "undocumented" new "features". I haven't come across the specific error you are getting but might be worth asking over there.
